Description
HIDman – USB HID To XT / AT / PS/2 / Serial Converter
HIDman is an open source device created by Andy Tait (aka rasteri) to allow the use of modern USB keyboards and mice on legacy PCs. Check the GitHub page for the latest updates and firmware or to report any issues.
Click the Options dropdown box above to order the HIDman adaptor, case, and various cables you may need based on your setup.
Peripherals that support legacy PCs are becoming hard to find, especially for the very first PCs. This project aims to provide a simple cheap solution that will cover everything from the original IBM 5150 PC all the way up to modern computers that have PS/2 ports.
Features
-
What it does
- Supports most USB keyboards and mice, including combined wireless dongles
- Can emulate the following devices :
-
- OG IBM PC / XT Keyboard
-
- AT / PS/2 Keyboard
-
- Amstrad Keyboard (From PC1512, PC1640)
-
- Serial Mouse (with optional Logitech-style 3rd button)
-
- PS/2 Mouse (with optional Intellipoint-style scroll wheel and up to 5 buttons)
- Supports HID-mode USB game controllers – e.g. Playstation controllers
What it does not do
- Does not support non-HID USB devices – e.g. Xbox controllers, USB mass storage devices, etc
- Does not support PC Gameports – Game controller actions are translated to keyboard/mouse actions
- Does not support some USB hubs – This is not HIDman’s fault, as many hubs have buggy low-speed-device support
- Does not support complicated setups – Simple USB devices work best
