3D Print Your Own Standoffs For Commodore 64

It’s been a while since I posted anything here. I should probably start archiving all these projects I am working on. Here is a simple one.

The plastic in the Commodore 64 case becomes brittle over time and the main board standoffs on the bottom can crack and break off easily. I created some replacements in Fusion 360 that can be 3D printed. To use them you should first cut off the existing standoffs (or what’s left of them) with a flush cutter and then sand those spots down with sandpaper. This smoothes out the area and adds some roughness for the epoxy to bond to. Then use plastic welder or plastic epoxy to attach the 3D printed standoffs right over the existing holes being careful not to get the epoxy in the hole.

A 3/32 inch drill bit can be used to clean out the existing holes and line up the standoffs while you are attaching them.

If you don’t have access to a 3D Printer you can also buy a kit like this one from Soigeneris.
